First-rate Quartz with Hematite specimen that wonderfully exemplifies one of the signature combinations from the storied Orange River area. Most of these are nice and colorful but THIS ONE is beyond in sharpness, luster, and color saturation...a real prize among these circa-2000 era classics. In this exemplary small-cabinet piece, the Hematite is completely included, forming deep-red phantoms just below the glassy faces of the crystals. Beautiful! The piece displays very well, and as nerdy as it my sound, the distribution of crystals in the photo rather reminds me of the scutes (dorsal plates) on a Stegosaurus. I find this small-cabinet piece to be compelling, with the aesthetics of this instantly-recognizable piece from Orange River (whose production is primarily from South Africa) being excellent.
