Classic prase or prasem quartz, as it is called, refers to the famous green quartz of Serifos island in Greece, probably known since antiquity. Only a few other locations in the world have produced such beautiful green quartz, and this dark green color comes from minute inclusions of hedenbergite within. These come from finds in China circa 2010, and are now modern classics for the sharp geometric points and dark green colors. Although new material is coming out again from this rich mining district, the style is different. Modern crystals tend to have lighter color and fatter shapes, with a less "carved" refinement to them that you see here. Valued $2000.
