Item Description
Quartz is probably the most "inclusion-amiable" mineral species in the world. You'll find Quartz from countless world localities which host inclusions of dozens if not hundreds of other minerals. Here we have a beautiful "Herkimer"-esque style Quartz group with rather lustrous faces and good internal gemminess, which have formed in a somewhat elestial shape, hosting tan inclusions of a clay mineral on one side. There are some negative / skeletal faces where the clay is included, creating the well-known "window" or "Fenster" habit. Overall the piece is in good shape, there is only one contacted point where presumably the piece was connected to the pocket wall. A cool example of this beautiful material showing multiple habits/styles and those lovely inclusions.
From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
