Quartz with clay inclusions

Item Description

This crystal of quartz is elegantly patterned on the surface with machined-looking patterns and indentations we refer to as "fenster" style. Some of them are growth artifacts resulting from hoppered growth as the crystal developed. While this came from a large find a few years ago, and many were on the market, this is particularly notable because it is balanced and doubly-terminated, and retains the natural shape of the crystal without getting too carried away with patterning that can detract if it is too strong. The color is due to inclusions of clay minerals, and perhaps some iron staining within. It is complete all around, front and back, a total floater. Again, while not uncommon in partial, broken, or single points, it is the pristine condition and balance that made this special enough to go into the large quartz suite of the Meieran collection.
