Item Description

A lovely miniature sized display specimen of the Quartz from the lesser known Maderaner Valley, (Maderanertal) in Switzerland. Sharp, very well-formed, highly lustrous, GEMMY, colorless crystals of prismatic hexagonal Quartz with the largest crystal measuring up to 2.9 cm. The main crystal on this piece is nearly WATER CLEAR, but the termination has a slight "phantom"-esque inclusion of mossy green "Chlorite" (Clinochlore most likely) to give it a lovely two-tone effect. Oddly, the piece is glued / mounted to what Kay described as a "verde antique base", which is rather uncommon for mineral specimens. Excellent condition and a great piece to add to a Quartz suite, an Alpine collection or a Swiss mineral collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9742). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
