Quartz with "Chlorite" / Actinolite inclusions

Item Description

The Green Monster Mountain locality in Alaska is known for producing some superb Epidote specimens, along with a few associated minerals, including Quartz. This piece hosts a few sharp, well-formed, prismatic, somewhat gemmy Quartz crystals with a distinctive bluish-green color which is caused by inclusions of "Chlorite" / Actinolite. The main Quartz crystal has a small amount of secondary overgrowth, creating what could be called "Window Quartz". The final touch to the specimen is that is hosts many sharp, rather lustrous, prismatic, very dark green Epdiote crystals. When backlit, the Quartz crystals do pass light, and the color is very eye-catching. A VERY cool U.S. Quartz / Epidote specimen from this classic locality.
