Item Description

A really wonderful, aesthetic "crown"-like group of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, colorless prismatic crystals of Quartz with a slight green hue in spots, due to minor inclusions of "Chlorite" measuring up to 4.3 cm long, are surrounded at the base by light pinkish colored blocky crystals of Albite var: Pericline, overgrowing sparkling groups of dark greenish-black Clinochlore on amphibolite matrix. In terms of rarity, this is fairly common material for a European Alpine locality, but it's show eye-catching and beautiful. I love how the Quartz group is almost "floating" above the matrix, perfectly centered, and the almost "fairy ring" of Pericline around the periphery makes it all the more appealing. The piece can certainly be shown from several angles, and it also sits amazingly well on its own without the aid of a base or clay. No major damage, only a few minor imperfections. This one really stood out to me, and if you collect Quartz or Alpine minerals, it's a lovely specimen with great visual attractiveness.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#82 O), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
