Item Description

A beautiful "Alpine-type" specimen from the famous locality at Alchuri in the high mountains of Pakistan featuring a very sharp, lustrous, GEMMY, colorless, prismatic hexagonal crystal included with beautiful green colored "needles" of Actinolite. There is a bit of attached white Albite on the side of the prism, and the piece is in excellent shape overall with very little damage, save the base where it was contacted after being removed from the pocket wall. Ex Dr. Stephen Smale Collection. Along with amassing one of the finest private mineral collections in the world, Steve is a renowned mathematician. His accomplishments include being awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 along with being the awarded the Wolf Prize in mathematics in 2007.
