Item Description
This spectacular large quartz crystal is included with a multitude of lustrous schorl needles to at least 5.5 cm. The three frontal termination and prisms faces are transparent, revealing the needles in all of their glory. Strikingly, the back faces are preferentially frosted and the crystal is translucent. The termination tip is dramatically colorless! Complete all-around and nearly pristine. The termination tip is gently bruised and extremely trivial termination edge wear is noted. The base has been sawed to enhance the considerable display value, as the crystal reveals a fantastic jackstraw forest, when backlit. Ex Dr. Pete Dunn Collection, former mineralogist at the Smithsonian and recognized expect on the renowned Franklin and Sterling Hill deposits. Old-time and rare material from the 1960s to 80s. A superb combination showpiece from this locale. Valued at $2500.
