Item Description

Mineral specimens are rare from the Elm area of Canton Glarus in Switzerland and this is a superlative and very colorful large quartz specimen. Rich yellow limonite coats a striking, sculptural jackstraw plate of gemmy, sharply terminated quartz points. The three large crystals in the cluster are 6.5, 6.0 and 4.5 cm and the dramatic protruding prism is 3.7 cm long. Nearly pristine, with only two bruised crystals noted. Certainly acceptable in the context of this exceptional, densely crystallized specimen. The specimen is illustrated in the MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale. This colro is a spectacular addition to any collection of quartz or swiss material because it simply leaps out of a case, and is not something you usually expect in a Swiss specimen, in particular.
