Item Description

A rare, rich and showy large old combination specimen from this obscure very small underground copper mine closed in 1913. A striking field of glassy, transparent to translucent quartz points, to 4.0 cm, have nifty preferential inclusions of olive-green chlorite. Accenting iron oxides, preferentially coating one side of the quartz crystal prism faces adds color and character to this rare large piece. These are exceptional quartz crystals for the mine. There also appears to be small, rare green Pumpellyite-(Mg) crystal clusters scattered on the piece. Essentially pristine, for such a rare large old-timer. A few gently bruised termination tips are out-of-sight on their back side. Mined circa in the early 1900s. Ex Paul LaBonte and Robert Nowakowski Collections. Valued at $300. A must for the species or locality collector.
