In the modern era of mineral collecting, when you think about the great Quartz discoveries, the superb quality crystals from the Goboboseb Mountain in Namibia are in the top tier. Of the thousands of world localities for Quartz, these are some of the most impressive and desirable examples out there. It's a misnomer that these pieces are found at Brandberg, as they are actually found at the mountain which lies about 8 miles away from there. This specimen is a superb quality, GEM QUALITY, very sharp, lustrous, Smoky Quartz crystal showing a fine scepter habit growth, free of matrix. No major damage that I can see, only a few tiny "flea bites". Valued at $1,500, and considering that very few of these pieces are coming out now (especially in this quality) it's a great piece to add to any Quartz suite or a collection African/Namibian minerals.
