Item Description
A delightful small cabinet combination specimen from the 2000s finds at the Papachacra pegmatites of Argentina. Two impressive, sharply terminated smoky quartz crystals are aesthetically set against a blocky Microcline crystal. The artistic, lustrous, intensely dark smokies, 8.0 and 7.2 cm tall, are enhanced by the stepped-growth prism faces and included speckles. The smokies are mostly opaque, but the back lit photo reveals the translucent terminations and numerous included speckles. The smokies and microcline are beautifully complemented by a 1.0 cm cluster of glassy Topaz crystals between the base of the smokies, scattered florets of bone-white Albite crystals, pearlescent Muscovite books and a small, 3.7 cm, Smoky Quartz side car crystal. Very nearly pristine. The tall smoky has a very gently, barely noticeable bruised tip, which is certainly only a modest detraction. From the Bill Larson Quartz collection case, of approximately 250 specimens, which we bought in 2023. It was a long-term, very diverse mix on display for decades at the Pala International shop as an educational and fun exhibit. It was started back in the late 1970s. An outstanding, very sculptural and uncommon from the Argentina locale smoky quartz combination, that includes Topaz.
