Item Description
The Swiss Alps for centuries have been the source of some of the finest crystals of Quartz ever found. The Swiss Canton (State) of Uri in particular has yielded some of the most iconic examples of Quartz extant. This piece is a beautiful classic Alpine Smoky Quartz crystal with stellar GEM clarity, and excellent, sharp, well-formed faces. The color is a medium smoky hue, not too dark, not too light. Additionally the crystal is essentially a doubly-terminated "floater" as the underside is completely re-crystallized ("re-healed") where it detached from the pocket wall, and formed many little "teeth"-like terminations. A small bit of attached Albite makes for a nice touch. An excellent classic example of these beloved crystals.
