Item Description

Unusual for the San Diego county, this is a very sharp, very gemmy, transparent Smoky Quartz point of good display quality. Note the color is very rich, almost citrine, and very uniform throught the piece. The termination has a healed tip with a later stage microcrystalline quartz coating giving it a frosted appearance. The Dauphine habit crystal, with the enlarged rhombohedral face measuring 4.8 cm long, has an interesting bevelled interface between the prismatic faces and the termination. The Smoky Quartz material from this California location is rarely pristine by any means and this is no different with a number of nicks mainly along the basal edges. However the crystal makes up for its imperfections with its superb color, clarity and internal gem quality.
