Quartz var: Rose (historic locality)

Item Description

Rose Quartz is a famous and sought after pink variety of Quartz that is well-known from places like Brazil or Madagascar, but the first Rose Quartz crystals known in the world were actually found at the Mount Mica Quarry in Maine circa 1913-1915. The second reported locality for genuine Rose Quartz crystals in the world was the Dunton Gem Quarry in Newry, Maine, found in 1927. This piece is labeled as coming from Newry, and is a wonderful and honestly hard to find THUMBNAIL sized specimen featuring a gorgeous crystallized "ridge" of little sparkling crystals of a notably saturated pink hue, sitting on Quartz and Albite matrix. The piece is quite showy and the richness of the hue of the Rose Quartz is quite good, especially with little crystals. I will point out that this is CRYSTALLIZED Rose Quartz, you can clearly see the sharp, well-formed faces under magnification, which makes it all the more valuable and desirable in my mind. A must-have specimen for any thumbnail collector, a fan of pegmatite minerals, or classic locality specimens.
