Item Description

The Uncompahgre Mining District near Ouray, Colorado is well-known for producing superb crystallized Quartz specimens. This piece is a fine quality group comprising sharp, lustrous, well-formed, striated prisms of "Milky" Quartz forming a three-dimensional and showy specimen. The piece is crystallized all the way around with no point of attachment, making it a complete "floater" specimen! The habits vary as the main crystal shows a somewhat Tessin or Penninic tapered habit, while other crystals are a bit more blocky and stout. Great quality all around and very showy. Valued at $500. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California. You can read Gary's obituary here https://www.dcourier.com/news/2019/apr/27/obituary-gary-richard-weaver/ The label accompanying the piece states that it was collected by Jasper and Anita Berensen.
