Item Description

Swiss Alpine Quartz is considered among the best crystallized examples of the species ever found. Typically you'll see either colorless or smoky examples, but this piece is distinctly different has as it has a light golden hue. The accompanying label refers to the piece as Citrine, but I would honestly say it's somewhere between Citrine and Smoky Quartz in its hue. With that said, naturally occurring Citrine is fairly rare in nature, and pieces like this are certainly not common from the Swiss Alps or any other European Alpine locality. This piece features many fine quality, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, hexagonal prisms measuring up to about 4.0 cm long, on a thin plate of matrix. Most of the crystals are undamaged, but there are a few little nicks, so it's not completely pristine. Still a rather showy and eye-catching cabinet sized display piece of this world-renowned material.
