Item Description
A big showy example of these now classic twins from the Mansa Disrict in Zambia. While Japan-Law twins are well-known for Quartz, it is notably difficult to find Japan-Law twins of Citrine! As far as I know these might be the first reported specimens of this habit ever found for this variety. Around 2010-2011, we first started to see these pieces hit the market, and they were a bit hit for the excellent twinning combined with the large overall crystals. Japan-Law twins of this size are almost never seen from any locality. This piece is a robust, well-formed, fairly thick, sharp, GEMMY, light smoky-golden colored Japan-Law twin free of matrix. The piece is contacted on one side, and the other side has some dings, so it's not pristine, but it's still a big and impressive example of his limited and eye-catching material. It's important to note that the locality where these pieces were found is in the middle of the wilderness, and most of the early specimens that were found were simply thrown into bags, so they all had at least a little damage due to the crude method in which they were collected and transported. From the collection of Colin Manlove.
