Item Description
Here we have a fantastic, big, showy, aesthetic display quality specimen of drusy / sugary Chalcedony (a cryptocrystalline variety of Quartz) in stalactitic formations flaring off the underlain basalt with a slightly greenish-blue-grey colored layer of what could possibly be Julgoldite or a Pyroxene species(?) in between. The largest Chacledony "finger" measures 10.6 cm long. Nearly every bit of the piece is undamaged, though I can see a couple small bruises, so it's not 100% pristine. It's still very three-dimensional and has great character which is accentuated by a handful of sharp, doubly-termianted, peach colored Stilbite-Ca blades measuring up to 2.7 cm long and a couple of pearly light pink colored Heulandite crystals. You don't see this kind of formation very often from any locality, and I think it deserves special attention because there are a lot of basalt flows in the world where you never see Quartz like this, but Jalgaon is special and has produced some really stunning pieces of this material in the last 40 years or so. Valued at $1,250.
