A superb example of the Purple Sage Chalcedony (sometimes called Amethyst Sage Agate) from the Bilk Creek Mountains in Nevada. This material ranges in color from a soft silvery-lavender to a rich purple hue. The vast majority of these stones (approximately 90%) are found with dendritic inclusions. The remaining 10% have the highly coveted rich "Purple Sage" hue, and only 10% of THOSE stones are free of inclusions, so these stones literally represent about 1% of all the material mined. This particular gem is a gorgeous "Oval" Cabochon cut stone with a very attractive purple hue and excellent internal translucency. As you can see, it's free of dendritic inclusions and looks great both in transmitted light and reflected light.
