Item Description
Striking example of two generations of Quartz (var. Chalcedony) replacing, then coating, two significant Calcite crystals. The largest is a Calcite rhomb, 5.4 cm on edge, while the scalenohedron rises 3.7 cm above the base plate. Turning the piece over, you can see the solid, grey, cryptocrystalline Chalcedony cores of the pseudos. The next generation of Chalcedony coated everything, and even spawned numerous small stalactites. This is really quite an exceptional pseudo. Well-defined and varied, it is impressive in its presentation and its development.
