Item Description
The high Atlas Mountains of Morocco produce some very interesting specimens of quartz, much of it pseudomorphed and replacing other minerals. This gorgeous, translucent specimen features two, tabular crystals, to 6.6 cm in length, of pure white chalcedony replacing earlier crystals of baryte (so it is technically chalcedony var. quartz, after baryte). The vertical crystal is translucent and both exhibit a silky luster. In person, it is just so much more subtle in the aesthetics... really, a unique specimen! It is complete all around, and on both sides. A layer of gel-like bubbles of clear chalcedony coat the larger pseudomorph, as well, for a bit of added drama. Old piece from an old collection.
