Item Description
From a recent discovery in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region in Morocco which borders the region of Guelmim-Oued Noun to the north and Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab to the south. This material is coming to us labeled as being found at Smara, which is the second largest town in the region, so the locality might not actually be at Smara, but the specimens could have been acquired / sold there. If you collect Quartz and its many varieties, this is something new and interesting, and the likes of which is not often seen for sale. The piece appears to have grown in multiple generations with a soft creamy golden-white flowing deposition of Chalcedony at the base that is overgrown by beautiful golden to brown semi-botryoidal groups of Chalcedony. When it's backlit, the piece shows wonderful internal colors. It's certainly unique material, it doesn't look quite like anything we've seen from any other world locality, and it could certainly be in short supply based upon the limited amount we've seen on the market.
