Item Description
This piece was mined in 2017 in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region in Morocco. The given locality is Smara, which is the second largest town in the region, but odds are that these pieces are being collected nearby and most likely are being sold at the market at Smara. This is an attractive miniature specimen of this unusual material as it appears to have grown in multiple generations lovely cream colored Chalcedony "core" that has given way to beautiful golden to brown semi-botryoidal groups of Chalcedony on the outer portions. When you backlit the piece, it shows wonderful internal colors. This is unique and unusual material, and if you collect Quartz and its many varieties, this is something new and interesting to add to your collection. Very little seems to be available now, so don't miss out on this one as they may never be found again.
