Item Description
Ametrine is a combination of amethyst and citrine. Some of the finest and largest crystallized examples in the world come from this less well-known locality located in the dense Bolivian jungle. This impressive, large, sharply terminated, transparent to translucent crystal has rich purple color with vertical golden-amber citrine bands. This one has sharper termination, than most you see. The faces are frosted and the modified form is due natural etching in the pocket, while they form. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a bit of edge wear, which is certainly only a modest detraction. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $145, for free. 1127 grams or 2.5 pounds mass. Valued at $1250-1500. NOTE ADDED BY A COLLECTOR - thanks!: You might also mention that the Ametrine specimen in this week's auction also has the rare "C" face termination. Quartz from the Anahi mine frequently exhibit this rare form.
