Quartz var: Amethyst / Smoky (scepter) with Hematite inclusions

Here we have a wonderful and attractive Quartz specimen from the Chiredzi District in Zimbabwe. These eye-catching Quartzes are not terribly common on the market, especially in larger showy pieces like this one. Limited producing in recent years hasn't helped the supply, which is a shame as these pieces are quite good at their peak. This piece is a fine quality, very sharp, rather lustrous, notably gemmy scepter habit crystal showing beautiful purple Amethyst and Smoky color zones sitting atop a white/colorless, prismatic "stem". The piece is in good shape, and it's nearly doubly-terminated, though the bottom is not completely crystallized. Looking closely with backlighting, one can see tiny inclusions of Hematite suspended inside the Quartz, and a even some tiny "roses" of Hematite above the surface (see photos). No major damage, though there are a few spots of attached matrix in a couple spots. A choice and showy example of these elusive specimens.
