Quartz var. Amethyst (scepter)

Item Description

Sculptural, small cabinet, 360-degree cluster of intergrown amethyst crystals from this obscure area of Zimbabwe - the Chiredzi District. The piece is dramatically and beautifully highlighted by the striking, 3.3 cm, glassy, gemmy, rich variable grape-purple, doubly terminated scepter at the apex. The crystal has very unusual offset form and is strikingly accented with skeletal features. The scepter sits atop a glassy, transparent to translucent, blush-purple stalk. The fantastic 5.3 cm sidecar crystal is doubly terminated, quite gemmy and has grape-purple to smoky color hues. Nearly pristine, with only an attachment face to the colorless quartz at one side of the base of the scepter. The Chiredzi District is best known for sceptered amethyst specimens and this a remarkable and excellent example.
