Quartz var: Amethyst (rare for the locality) (''floater'' crystal)

Item Description

A wonderful "floater" specimen of these rarely seen Quartz specimens from Tonto Village, Arizona. This large miniature / small cabinet specimen is a very sharp, rather lustrous, well-formed, doubly-terminated hexagonal group which is largely colorless, but one of the tips shows a seldom-seen purple Amethyst hue. Almost all of the Quartz specimens I've seen from this area are colorless, so to have one even with a LITTLE color is certainly noteworthy. The piece has a bit of hollow / skeletal growth on the back, but it's fully crystallized. A few tiny nicks keep the piece from being completely pristine, but it's still very good quality for the locality, and the rare purple color makes it all the more desirable.
