Item Description
A startlingly bright, fancy cut gem amethyst from the famous quartz mining discoveries in Hallelujah Junction, Nevada; this just leaps out to the eye. For a Nevada amethyst gem, or even an American stone at all, it is particularly fine. This is a custom fantasy cut gem, 64.25 carats, and has been in the collection of Dallas collector, Jim Houran. His collection recently specialized in American gem species thumbnails, and cut stones. It is set in a custom molded sterling silver custom stand. This specimen was donated as part of the 2023 Dallas Mineral Collecting Symposium benefit auction, with proceeds benefiting Mineralogical Record, Rocks & Minerals, Tucson Gem and Mineral Society, and mindat.org.
