Item Description
Gemmy Amethyst scepters such as these, on a white stalk, are indicative of some of the rather unique finds in Madagascar, and specimens of this quality are extremely desirable for this locality. The crystals are water clear with good purple coloration near both the base and the terminations, with a super-glassy luster enhancing the aesthetics even more. It is subtle and complex at the same time! The Amethysts even have dozens of very fine, needle-like inclusions that add to both the mineral and visual interest. The largest of these Amethyst crystals is about 1.2 cm, and typically many of the very best of these particular specimens are thumbnails. There are numerous references to Jack and his collection in print, but perhaps a good tour of the collection and its history will help give perspective on just how good, and important, this collection is: https://www.irocks.com/the-jack-halpern-collection
