The amethyst crystals from Guerrero, Mexico are among the best in the world! They are highly desired by collectors, as their supply is very limited due to the area being cartel controlled and difficult to access in the best of times. As well, many pockets produced crystals with bad luster, although this is very glassy! While some new material has trickled out in recent years, it is in very low volumes. This cluster of sharply terminated crystals, to 6.8 cm, has beautiful rich grape-purple interiors with satin luster. The purple phantoms below the typical colorless tips add contrast to this wonderful example. The bottom of the crystal has some inclusions that add some orangey-brown hues to the crystal, with only a bit of wear at the attachment on the base.
