Item Description
Rich grape-purple, gemmy and lustrous amethyst points, to 1.6 cm, with milky quartz bases are densely studded on all sides of this classic, casted (epimorph) small cabinet from the famous basalt deposits of Irai, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The amethyst and quartz was deposited on a large, elongated Calcite crystal, which subsequently dissolved away. The interior reflects the form of the former calcite crystal. From the Bill Larson Quartz collection case, of approximately 250 specimens, which we bought in 2023. It was a long-term, very diverse mix on display for decades at the Pala International shop as an educational and fun exhibit. It was started back in the late 1970s. A rich, sculptural and excellent amethyst cast after calcite from a classic locality....and, for some reason, most of these are BIG specimens and big casts. This is a size for most of us!
