Fascinating, surreal looking large multi-hued quartz from the famous basalt Goboboseb Mountains of Namibia. The stunning central section of the pristine, doubly terminated, floater, hexagonal crystal is mostly water-clear, colorless. An amazing, swirled "rod" of rich grape-purple amethyst "connects" the two lustrous, milky quartz terminations. There is a striking, accenting smoky quartz layer at the base of one of the milky terminations and the piece is visibly enhanced by the 1.8 cm milky quartz point projecting upward from the same termination. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $145 for free. From the collection of well-known Jack Halpern of San Francisco No. 3055, as featured in the Mineralogical Record, March 2005. We recently obtained the remainder of his collection. This is certainly one of the most unusual looking and remarkable large doubly terminated, multi-hued, floater quartz specimens we have seen from the noted locale. Valued $2500-3500.
