Item Description

Gene loves amethyst, and the Uruguay amethysts have such nice deep color that they really stand out in collections. While you can buy huge geodes and plates of this stuff, regular-sized collector specimens are actually not as common as you'd think in any kind of unique quality beyond the bland plate or point. This specimen is composed of three knobs, perhaps each the tip of a stalactite. It has a somewhat unique aesthetic, and was long in the Meieran quartz suite. Yes, quartz is a gem crystal species and yes, Gene is a little crazy - so he collected hundreds of quartz crystals as well as his more famous suites of beryls and tourmalines.
