Quartz var: Amethyst

Item Description

The Amethyst specimens from various localities in Guerrero, Mexico are some of the most beautiful and recognized examples of this purple Quartz variety ever found. Namely, the pieces from Amatitlán are celebrated for their superior color, size, quality and gemminess. This is a showy and fine quality example featuring a handful of sharp, very well-formed, lustrous hexagonal prisms which range from a saturated purple hue in the center to virtually colorless on the exterior edges, measuring up to 3.3 cm long, aesthetically flaring off matrix. There are some minor imperfections on the termination of the left-most crystal, and the central crystal has a separation mark on the back, but the piece is still in fine shape, and displays beautifully as you can see. Often, the crystals from this locality can be somewhat "bunched" together, and this one shows excellent isolation/separation between each crystal, which gives the piece a lot of character and visceral appeal.
