Item Description

Agate specimens are rare from this well-known lead-zinc-copper-baryte-fluorite deposit operated by the French from 1923-1960, but this is probably from finds here in the early 2000s. This striking, thick, polished slice has a solid, large, coarse, crystalline Quartz center rimmed by delicate yellow and lavender bands that are more thinly banded at the outer rim of this large central area. The outer potion has some nearly circular to slightly convoluted bands dominated by maroon and burnt orange with some tiny microcrystalline Quartz centers. The back side is nicely sawn, but not polished. A very good piece for the locality.
