Item Description

The Washington Camp locality in Patagonia, Arizona is well-known producing some very attractive and sometimes odd Quartz specimens. It's possibly the most well-known Quartz locality in Arizona. This showy and three-dimensional display specimen features several attractive, unusual frosted Quartz crystals (characteristic of this locality, but very unusual overall), measuring up to 8.1 cm long, free of matrix. The crystals are a bit thin/compressed on one axis (which is also typical for the locality), but one of the them is dramatically tabular, with an almost "wafer"-like thickness for its relative size. This crystal is actually half of a "Japan"-law twin, as you can follow it to the base, where it is clearly attached to another Quartz crystal at an angle of exactly 84°33'. The broad, blunt termination along with the with strikingly "different" shape of the overall crystal are enough to get any Quartz collector excited. I can't remember seeing a "Japan"-law twin quite like this from Washington Camp. Overall the piece is in very good shape, though the crystal on the front edge of the piece has a separation mark where it was attached to another Quartz crystal at one point. Priced at $950 in the inventory.
