Item Description
An unusually compressed Quartz crystal from an undisclosed locality in El Dorado County, California. The piece is compressed along the a{1000) axis to create an unusually tabular thick prism. It's almost a complete "floater" as it's crystallized all the way around, but there are a few minor areas of roughness that keep it from being 100% damage free. It's nearly colorless (very slightly milky / smoky) with sharp, well-formed faces and good luster on the front while the back is more of a matte luster. A small "rosette" of Muscovite on the front lower edge makes for a nice touch. A cool piece for any Quartz collector or a California minerals collector. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9861) with an old label from Walt Lidstrom. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
