Item Description
Intriguing Quartz specimen from the Binn valley in Switzerland. Probably the most unusual aspect of the Quartz is the fact that it is twinned. You can see the re-entrant along the top of the crystal, and follow the plane much of the way down. The Quartz is actually water clear around the outside, and only becomes slightly translucent as the twinning plane is approached. Fascinating! On top of that, what looks like matrix is really chlorite-included and chlorite-covered Quartz. It is the stalk, and the upper, gemmy part is the scepter! On first glance, you never would have realized that. This fine miniature was in the collections of H. Kiefer and Anton Berger before ending up as #12,104 in Kay's collection.
