Item Description
The Uncompahgre Mining District around the town of Ouray in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado is well-known for producing superb crystallized Quartz specimens. This piece is a fine quality group comprising sharp, lustrous, well-formed, striated prisms of "milky" to colorless Quartz forming a three-dimensional and showy specimen. The habit of the main crystal is the Ticino or Tessin habit, featuring tapered rhombohedral faces. The piece is crystallized all the way around, save the base where it was removed from the pocket wall. Great quality all around and very showy. Valued at $500. Ex Brian Kosnar Collection.
