Quartz (SUPERB quality crystal) (ex Chet Lemanski Collection)

A superb quality, razor-sharp, very lustrous, GEM QUALITY, wonderfully colorless single prismatic Quartz crystal from the lesser known Miller Mountain Mine (Coleman Mine). The optic clarity and absolute absence of color makes this about as pure as Quartz gets in nature. The vast majority of the crystal is WATER CLEAR! These gem colorless Quartz crystals are often labeled as "Quartz (var: Rock Crystal)", similar to the supreme transparent colorless crystals from the Swiss Alps. The piece is in very good condition, with only a small imperfection on the termination. A wonderful example from a somewhat obscure locality, and a worthwhile piece to add to any Quartz collection or a suite of Quartz crystals. Specimen weight is 271 grams. Chet was born 1947 in started collecting minerals circa 1957. He worked briefly as a drill runner at the famous Sterling Mine, in Ogdensburg, New Jersey and from 1987 to 1990 he helped convert the mine into a public access mining museum. He has held the role of treasurer, vice president and president of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), and has been a board member and vice president of the Franklin Mineral Museum. The rare copper arsenate, Lemanskiite was named in his honor in 1999. This piece was priced at $2,000 retail in our inventory.
