Item Description
A classic piece of the so-called "Solution Quartz" from the Jeffrey Quarry in Arkansas. This specific type of Quartz is linked to this locality in the minds of nearly all collectors. The solution growth of Quartz at this locality produced specimens of a unique brightness and surface luster, with their unique almost "jackstraw" appearance. The specimens almost always feature dozens of thin gem / gemmy colorless hexagonal prisms intergrown in an almost "nest"-like appearance and free of matrix. The unlikely-looking floater status of these delicate groups thus reflects the fact they were in solution rather than deposited onto rock. This specimen is a particularly lovely cluster of this beloved variety featuring many crystals measuring up to 2.1 cm long with very sharp, lustrous faces and excellent water-clear clarity. Complete all around. A wonderfully historic and eye-catching specimen of this well known old time material. From the collection of Henry de Linde (March 21, 1923 – April 4, 2019) of Hot Spring, Arkansas. Henry was one of the most prominent figures in the history of Arkansas mining and mineral collecting. Along with being a miner, mineral collector and an amateur mineralogist, de Linde was one of the founders of the Coon Creek Association mineral club. He was the owner of several key localities in Arkansas including the Diamond Jo Quarry (on the south rim of Magnet Cove), the type locality for Delindeite, which was named in his honor in 1987.
