Item Description
There are many different styles, habit and colors of Quartz found in the various localities in Dalnegorsk, but scepter crystals are fairly rare in my experience. This beautiful, robust and showy cabinet sized display piece is filled with excellent, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, white/colorless hexagonal prisms of Quartz showing distinct scepter habits, sitting on a matrix features sharp, metallic black Sphalerite crystal with tiny pale orange-tan crystal groups of Siderite, plus golden Pyrite. It's hard to measure the single largest Quartz crystal, but the aggregate group on the top portion of the piece measures 2.6 cm for reference. No major damage that I can find, and just look at show eye-catching it is. A really special and hard to find example that would make a fine addition to any Quartz suite or a collection of minerals from Dalnegorsk. If I had this one on a shelf for sale at a show, I would have it somewhere in the $1,500 range. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#31 Ru), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the coming months and years through our various platforms.
