Item Description
A beautiful association specimen featuring a sharp, translucent, matte grey scepter Quartz crystal that is associated with TWO distinctly different, but possibly similar Mica (possibly both of them are Lepidolite, but more accurately Polylithionite and Trilithionite if you please) along with a very dark green (mostly black) prism of Elbaite Tourmaline and minor white Albite blades. It's very interesting to see stark yellow Mica along with notably purple Mica only a few mm apart from one another. As of the time I have posted this auction, it is still unclear if Lepidolite will be redefined / renamed, or completely discredited. Right now, it's said to be a series between Polylithionite and Trilithionite. I have seen yellow Lepidolite from Itinga and columnar purple Lepidolite from Morro Redondo, so it could be possible that we have two drastically different colors of what might be the same species of Mica on the same specimen. The Quartz crystal is complete all the way around, save the back where it clearly was removed from the pocket wall. It's funny that the Mica takes the spotlight on this piece, but I'm just fascinated by it. From the collection of Paolo Matioli.
