Item Description

A great old time Brazilian Quartz specimen featuring a pair of big, broad, sharp, lustrous, translucent, slightly smoky colored crystals showing they are in fact scepters (you can see the "stem" of the scepter at the base of the piece), but also show the famous "window" or "Fenster" (in German) habit with attractive internal viewing zones. The piece is crystallized all the way around and really looks beautiful from either side. Unfortunately the terminations are nicked, but considering the size, luster and sharpness, it's still a fine example of this beloved material. This piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with one of Wulff's famous 3x5 cards that says he purchased the piece from Bob Criss for a mere $10 around 50 years ago. Oddly, the label says that there's a water bubble inclusion in the piece, but we looked for nearly an hour and couldn't find it.
