Quartz replacing Petrified Wood (from Alabama!)

I've only seen a handful of these specimens over the years, and they are always popular with collectors. Minerals from Alabama are certainly uncommon, but to find Petrified Wood is even rarer. This piece is a classic example of these hard to find replacement / pseudomorph specimens featuring drusy crystals of sparkling Quartz which are coating or pseudomorphing (depending on who you ask) a beautiful piece of golden-brown Petrified Wood. You can see some of the growth structure of the wood on the surface of the specimen. A really cool and unusual piece of these lesser known but attractive specimens from Brilliant.
