Item Description
Here we have a beautiful example of these famous old classic "casts" (some people call them epimorphs, but others use the term perimorph) of Quartz replacing Fluorite. This attractive cabinet display specimen features drusy / sugary, white crystals of Quartz which have coated / covered green octahedral Fluorite, which in turn has partially dissolved away, leaving some hollow casts in the form of the original Fluorite octahedrons. You can see that some of the Fluorite is still present on the piece, but areas on the reverse side show the hollow areas where it no longer remains. A fine piece of this classic material from southwestern Colorado. Valued at $1,250. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California. You can read Gary's obituary here https://www.dcourier.com/news/2019/apr/27/obituary-gary-richard-weaver/
