Item Description
This is the first specimen we've ever seen from this locality. It was collected by Robert Stoufer in 1986, who is one of the premier San Juan mineral dealers and field collectors. The label accompanying the piece places it in San Juan County, but it's right over the border on Red Mountain in Ouray County. This is an aesthetic display specimen featuring fine quality, sharp, well-formed, frosted white, hexagonal prisms of Quartz measuring up to 5.7 cm long sitting on massive Quartz matrix. The piece is quite showy and displays well from a few angles. No major damage that I can see. If you collect worldwide Quartz specimens or minerals of Colorado, this is a rare specimen from an obscure locality to add to your collection.
