Item Description

Mount Pentelicus in Greece is the source of fine quality marble that has been mined / quarried for thousands of years. It is also the source of some attractive "Alpine"-type Quartz crystals that rarely make their way to the market. I've seen colorless / white crystals along with attractive Smoky Quartz and Amethyst specimens from this locale, but only sporadically over the years. This miniature is a wonderful example featuring a beautiful group of highly lustrous, well-formed, sharp, colorless / white prismatic hexagonal crystals measuring up to 3.7 cm long with no attached matrix. The back of the piece is actually re-crystallized ("re-healed"), and were it not for a few tiny contacts, I would say that it is a complete "floater". A very attractive and excellent quality piece for any fan of worldwide Quartz specimens or "Alpine"-type material.
